Three vaccines have been successfully created for COVID-19. The vaccines have been created by separate groups. The first vaccine was created by a German laboratory and the US company Pfizer. The second was created in the US by the drug company Moderna and the third was created in the UK by Oxford University. The vaccines are great news for people around the world. They have been created incredibly quickly. Vaccines normally take around 10 years to create because of how complex they are. These vaccines have been created in less than one year as part of a huge effort to fight the coronavirus crisis.

Many countries have ordered the new vaccines and want to use them as soon as possible. Pfizer said they will be ready to send the vaccine out hours after it is approved by regulators. Some people may start to get the vaccines in December but most people will need to wait until 2021. One of the creators of the German vaccine said that life may be back to normal by next winter. It will be very difficult to get everyone vaccinated but governments are making plans for how to vaccinate people in the best way. Most countries will vaccinate old people and people who are vulnerable to COVID-19 first. The youngest and healthiest people will get the vaccines last.

The vaccines are too late for people to enjoy the winter holidays in 2020. Christmas, New Years, and other winter holidays are very important to people. The holidays are also very important to businesses as many people spend more money during the holidays. People like to travel and spend time together for the holidays and doctors are worried that this will spread the virus more.
