Joe Biden will be the next President of the United States. He won the election on November 3rd. Although the election day took place on November 3rd, many Americans had voted early because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This meant that many of the votes were counted slower than in previous elections. It took a long time for anyone to know who won. Normally, it is known who won before all of the votes are counted. Sometimes it is known who won after only a few states have counted some of their votes.

After the votes were finally counted, it became known that Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump. People have been angry at politics in the US and this meant that more people voted than ever before. Over 151 million people voted in this election. At first, the race was much closer than people thought it would be but in the end, it was clear that Joe Biden had actually won by a big amount. The mail-in ballots made it look close in the beginning. Many more people voted for Trump than in 2016; however, it wasn’t enough to beat Joe Biden. Biden received more votes than any Presidential candidate in history.

Democrats are happy that Joe Biden won, however, they are not happy about how President Trump has reacted to the loss. Trump has refused to concede. On election night, he lied and announced that he was the winner. Since the election, he has said that there was fraud in the election and that many of the votes were illegal. Many people do not believe him and there is absolutely no evidence of fraud. People don’t know if Trump will leave the White House on his own in January or if people will need to force him to leave. No matter what, Joe Biden will become president on January 20th.
