NASA has sent a new rover to Mars. The rover is called “Perseverance”. It is going to Mars to search for evidence of life on the planet. It will land where there was a lake billions of years ago. NASA thinks this area will be the best place to search for evidence of life.

The rover is also carrying a small helicopter. The helicopter is called “Ingenuity”. It will be the first-ever flying machine on Mars. NASA will use Ingenuity to search for interesting places on Mars. They can use it to see more than they can from the rover. They will use the information to plan more places to go for future rovers.

It will take 7 months for Perseverance and Ingenuity to reach Mars. NASA sent them now because Mars is close to the Earth. They will land in February 2021.
