The coronavirus is a new type of virus. It was found in December 2019. It started in Wuhan, China. The virus has been spreading. The Chinese government has been trying to stop the spread.

The WHO (World Health Organisation) has now said it is a global emergency. They say it is now in many countries. This makes it a threat to the world. Before now they said it was not a threat to the world. The WHO said the virus has now been found in 18 countries. This number is rising. The virus has been found in countries around the world.

Many countries have been trying to stop the virus. In Hong Kong, winter vacation for schools was extended by two weeks. Some cities in China have closed. People in those cities have been told to stay at home. China and other countries are working hard to contain the virus.
