Russia has been banned from sport. They have been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada). They have been banned for 4 years. They cannot go to the 2020 Olympics. They also cannot go to the 2022 World Cup.

Russia has not been able to compete in athletics since 2015. This is because they cheated at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Some Russian athletes will be able to go to the 2020 Olympics. However, they will not be allowed to compete for Russia.

Some people don’t think the 4-year ban is enough. They want a stronger punishment. They think athletes who don’t cheat will be hurt if the ban is not strong enough. If the ban is not strong enough then more people may cheat.
