On July 20, 1969, people landed on the Moon for the first time. Now, it is the 50th anniversary. Many people think the Moon landing is one of the world’s greatest achievements.

The first man to walk on the Moon was Neil Armstrong. The second was Buzz Aldrin. Michael Collins was the third man with them. He didn’t land on the Moon with Armstrong and Aldrin. He had to stay in the rocket orbiting the Moon. Nobody knew if the mission would work. The president even had a speech ready for if there was a problem.

Only 13 people have stepped foot on the Moon. Nobody has been to the Moon since 1972. Many people are talking about the Moon because of the anniversary. People want to go to the Moon again. NASA is planning a mission to the Moon for 2024. It is not certain if it will happen.
